Following earlier tax amendments on charter yachts initiated by Italy, France has announced new tax legislation on charter yachts that will be effective from 31 March 2020. According to the new law all yacht charters, with no exemptions for yachts cruising into international waters, will be subject to a full 20% rate on charter fee. This is a major update taking effect before the Summer, with the South of France being one of the most popular Mediterranean Summer charter destinations.
